Last weekend hundreds, if not thousands of women and a few sprinkles of men invaded Downtown Miami for Oprah’s The Life You Want Weekend.
“I came to be inspired,” said Tamara King, 36-year-old mother of three. “When Oprah [Winfrey] comes to town you can’t help but to become inspired and get that knowledge that she leaves.”
King wasn’t alone; many women came for the same reason. The weekend-long event featured several workshops and of course appearances and wisdom from the talk show queen, Oprah Winfrey. The O-Town experience set up shop just north of the American Airlines Arena in Museum Park. Although the morning got off to a rocky start with soggy grass because of Miami’s “wonderful” and at most times schizophrenic weather the event seemed to go very well.
About an hour before the public took on O-Town, COVERGIRL hosted a power meet-up breakfast that featured Latin Grammy nominated singer, Jessi Leon; celebrity stylist, Irma Martinez; and celebrity chef, Carla Hall.
“I think that whenever you have a platform to use to inspire other women it feels very powerful because I’ve been through so many challenges and I want to share that and I want other women to be empowered to go and do what they’re supposed to do,” said The Chew co-host.
She also added that she can’t take full credit for her success. Without a little help, she herself may not have been in the position to inspire others.
The tented area featured several attractions that offered yoga, displayed Lady O show memorabilia and of course a display paying homage to O Magazine.
