This past Monday, The City of Miami Gardens has announced that it will be adding another music festival to the city’s list of annual events, IM International Food and Music Festival. The festival debuts on Saturday, August 5th at the Betty T. Ferguson Amphitheatre, 19909 NW 31st Ave.
The show is powered by the Vice Mayor, Erhabor Ighodaro and the city.
“Love … love can concur all,” said Ighodaro of the energy he feels from Jo Mersa Marley, grandson of Bob Marley. “It can still do that. And I think that is the vibe that this young man brings to our community.”
The festival is slated to have a more island feel, so it is a change from Jazz in the Gardens. And, the show’s line up will also feature the Marley’s.
“I mean just go and fight, really,” said Marley reflecting on the impact his grandfather’s life has had on him. “Do not let anything stop you. Do not let anyone’s words deter you. Do not let anyone’s interpretation of you stop you from being you. It starts from you knowing yourself, knowing what you want and knowing what you are going for.”
IM is expected to offer more than just music. The culture of the islands will be present, including food. There will also be a kid’s zone for the younger members of the family as well.
